2012 Washington Junior Science &

Humanities Symposium

Thursday, March 15, and Friday, March 16, 2012
at Seattle Pacific University

We invite all interested Washington State high school students in grades 9-12 to participate in the Washington Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (WJSHS), which is sponsored by the School of Education at Seattle Pacific University, in cooperation with the Academy of Applied Science and the Army Research Office, the Office of Naval Research, and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.

This is a two-day event that provides high school students, who have conducted original research in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), with a forum to present their work to a panel of judges and an audience of high school students, teachers, parents, university faculty and students, and professional scientists.

WJSHS student presenters have the opportunity to win college scholarships, as well as the opportunity to attend and compete at the 50th National Junior Science and Humanities Symposium. The 2012 NJSHS will be held from Wednesday, May 2, 2012 through Sunday, May 6, 2012 in Bethesda, Maryland.

Expenses for the Washington Regional WJSHS are subsidized by the National JSHS Office under contract with Seattle Pacific University.

The National Association of Secondary School Principals has placed JSHS on its 2011-12 National Advisory Listing of Student Contests and Activities.
